The math on retention
A 200-member gym at $99/mo generates $237,600/year. Cutting monthly churn from 6% to 4% adds roughly $47,000/year — more than most gyms spend on marketing. That's what the retention workflows in this software are designed to protect. Not the billing itself; the renewal you almost missed.
Who it's for
- Boutique studios with 50–500 members
- Small independent gyms with recurring billing
- Personal trainers selling monthly retainers
- Martial arts, CrossFit, and specialty gyms
FAQ
What does membership management software do?
It handles the full lifecycle of a paying member — sign-up, recurring billing, failed-payment retries, upgrades, downgrades, freezes, cancellations, and renewals. Good ones also handle the retention side: flagging members at risk of churning before they cancel.
How is this different from Stripe?
Stripe processes the payment. Membership management software decides which member should be charged what, when they froze, when their pack runs out, and whose card failed twice this month. GymManage Pro uses Stripe under the hood but adds all the fitness-specific logic on top.
Does it support freezes and pauses?
Yes. Members can freeze via their portal or you can freeze on their behalf. Billing pauses automatically and resumes on the date you set.
What about failed payments?
Failed cards retry on a schedule (day 1, 3, 7). Members get an email with a self-service link to update their card, and you get a task in your dashboard for anyone still failing after 7 days.
Can I offer multiple membership types?
Yes. Unlimited monthly, class packs, contract terms, family plans, trial memberships, and drop-ins can all run at once. Each member can hold more than one active plan.
